Q. I am currently on a plan that does not cover my medication for GERD. My concern is, I won’t be able to pay for my medications without health insurance. I am thinking about switching to another plan but have recently been diagnosed with scleroderma. I am not being treated for the disease because nothing seems to work for me. What kind of plan do you think I should look for?
A. As much as you dislike the plan you have now, you need to keep it. With your recent diagnosis there are no carriers that will be willing to underwrite new coverage. Scleroderma is a difficult and costly disease to manage. You need to hold on to the plan you have as long as you can.
